Hello Girls..
Welcome in.. This week you have to submit a photo of your celebrity in your choice of Fashion Decades.
Let see how you guys did this week and remember by the end of tonight only 5 of you will be remain.
Amanda: I like how you gave us an image to compare to. You definitely look like you belong there and stay true to the trends from the time. The bike also wins points (random note: my phone wanted to say "bikini" and not "bike").
I really like this. Your hair and makeup fits the era and the picture shows the Forties in a lot of ways and although I prefer my own sexy hat to yours, people in the Forties would find me weird. That is another reason for me to be a modernist, I guess. I like what I live in. ;-)
Camilla: Thanks for the nice comments, Amanda. I wish i have the same hat as yours. I heard they're fab
Amanda: So sexy <3 (and that's mine!)
Sonam: Lol.. I wonder how many times we will see Amanda's hat making a cameo here. Back to your photo, I think it is so amazing. I think the theme was executed really well. You look like you have a lot of fun. I'm totally in love with your photo
Brody: I think this photo fits the 40s perfectly. Once again, you did great. I think this shot is definitely something different with you on the bike, and I'm glad to see that. A typical 1940s shot for a girl would have been her sitting in a chair being seductive, so I think by doing something a little out of the ordinary, you really nailed this week.
Tom: I actually like this a lot. It's very true to your decade. I do like the bike and i really like the hat.
Mandy: So, this one time, I was working at summer camp. And one day, after everybody else was in bed, I was like, "Dang, I'm thirsty." So I went into the lodge kitchen to get some water. And as I open the door, there's two of my coworkers sitting there, in the pitch black, looking hella awkward. I didn't say anything, just grabbed my water and went back to bed.
Anyway, that's the vibe I'm getting from this thread. Just sayin.
Oh, and there's a photo, too. Let's see here. I think the pose is fantastic, and it's especially impressive given that you're riding a bicycle. Those things tend to be incredibly awkward to pose with, but you've pulled it off really well. Your smile is charming and cute, and the hat is simply darling on you. All in all, it's stunning.
Now get a room, you two.
Tom: This is totally meant for you. Your skin complexion is perfect and it's totally 30s
Brody: This is alright. The hair, makeup, your fair skin all fits the 30s but then it just ends there. This shot doesn't really jump out at me as being amazing. Its really just you standing there facing the camera. I need more from you at this stage of the competition. You have a lot of potential, so hopefully you made it through this round.
Amanda: I'm with Brody. It fits the theme perfectly, but it's a dull, forgettable shot. Nothing jumps out to me at all. It doesn't scream "model" to me. It is just a typical Depression era woman. That is all I see. At this stage, being so safe is not the way to make the finals. But it may get you through this round... but it might not.
Sonam: I think the styling is great but the composition of this photo was too safe. From your pose to the setting. Really average for me
Mandy: I think that this is a pretty good photo, Evan! The hair is nice, and the hat and dress really fit the theme well. It's important to note that you haven't done anything wrong here, but I do sadly agree that the photo really kind of lacks the "wow" factor for me. It's like... It's like a Toyota Camry - reliable and easy to appreciate, but not inspiring.
Tom: This is a different side of you which i like a lot. Your smiling too hard but it's still a very cute picture.
Amanda: I'm pretty sure models in the Fifties and Sixties would smile a lot like that. I am glad that ended, really. Doesn't look genuine. But it fits the theme. This whole picture does, really. It is different than the Lea we have seen through now. And although it fits the theme in pretty much every way possible, that smile is a tad creepy. This is why I am a modernist.
But yeah, it works. What was I just talking about?
Sonam: I think you got the theme right. I love the stripes in your dress. I love the styling, Lea. But I also have the same problem with other judges.. Your smile.. Tone it down
Brody: I have to agree with the smile comments. Also, the pose is a little bleh. Overall it fits the theme, but just isn't that exciting
Mandy: I looked at this photo, and it was like that smile was saying to me, "Stay right there, Mandy. After I finish my cotton candy, I'm coming to eat you."
But, anyway, ignoring that, it's a great photo. The background is perfectly 50s, and I'm kind of in love with the vintage colorwash effect that you have going on here. And, omagash, the hair and outfit are ravishingly retro without becoming dowdy and outdated, and that's an incredibly difficult thing to pull off. Not a big fan of the hands, because even though it's a throwback to the prim and proper eating styles of the day, it's still a tad awkward. Overall, great job, though. <3
Amanda: Oh you know how I like 80s rock... lol
Not totally sold on how the hair fits the decade but everything else seems to be a fusion of 80s and modernity. The outfit totally works for a concert and this is definitely the kind of girl a rock ballad would be about. It's fierce like it needs to be and really my only gripe is that the hair is too beautiful for the Eighties. People really liked ugly hairdos back then for some reason and I do like how this feels modern and retro at the same time. It's a bit of a risk that works - we have ourselves a modern day Eighties rock enthusiast showing off what she wore to the Bon Jovi concert.
Sonam: I think I would be in love with this photo more if you have some background for instance like you were on stage so we can feel the rockstar vibe more. I think it's too safe Nat but you look very beautiful here and the styling was good.
Brody: I'm going to have to disagree with Sonam. I think this is horrible. You've been doing so well but I think this week you really failed to deliver. I don't really see 80s when I look at this picture. After I think about it for a while I can kind of figure it out. But I think the fact that you had to go into a big explanation about how the shot is 80s kind of sums it all up. Its not 80s. You forced it. With the decade theme, I want to be able to look at the image and instantly that decade comes to mind. With yours, that just didn't happen. I'm hoping you managed to get by this week since I think you have a lot of potential to win this whole thing, but this week was definitely not a good week for you.
Tom: I see very 80s. reminds me of the musical rock of ages. I like it.
Mandy: Regarding the tag, I say go ahead and remove it. It's like the tag on a mattress - illegal to remove, but nobody actually cares. And if they do, you'd probably get to meet the real Natalie Portman in court, so either way it's kind of a win-win for you.
I definitely get an 80s vibe in this photo, and the pose is sexy as all hell, but for whatever reason, I'm just not wow-ed by this. I'm also not a fan of the way your arm is in front of your face, since we lose a bit of the hair and makeup, which are even more important to the photo since we don't really have much of a background here. But it's still great, and I think you shouldn't have anything to worry about. <3
Sonam: This is stunning for me. I love the make up and you only use the flower and manage to translate the 70's in your photo. Simple but effective for me
Amanda: It's a bit too close up to see what decade it is, with the flowers being the only clue. It is a great face shot, yes - the makeup and hair are fantastic - but nothing completely screams "Seventies" to me. Just the flowers, but those weren't only the Seventies. Overall, it's pretty good but not great, and at this stage, we expect great.
Olivia: Ah sorry I should have explained myself! I was just going for a hippie look! The 70's was when the hippie look came into the mainstream and it was a big fashion trend. So I think the overall feel, my hair and flower headband represent this!
Amanda: I'm going to have to disagree with Amanda on this one. I think that it was a very wise choice for the 70s. It's not in your face, corny, overly crazy 70s. Its very beautiful and subtle. Not only does your flower headband represent the 70s but I believe your hairstyle resonates the 70s too. Other than that though, your facial expression comes off as very hippy, "free in the wind". Great job!
Tom: I wish i could see more of your face but it's very beautiful.
Mandy: I'm going to point out that I think the 60s were the domain of the flower child, not the 70s. I could be wrong, though, on account of being young and hot.
I like the coloring of this photo. It gives it a very soft look, and it's very nice. Your facial expression is beautifully sublime, and your hair fits it perfectly. I do wish we could see some body in this photograph as well, but I think you've done a marvellous job here.
Tom: I really like this photo. THe outfit, the beauty and the bubbles.
Sonam: This is good. Not great but I love the styling. The headband is so 70's and I love the setting
The photo is overall really good. great composition. very interesting and stimulating to look at. I dont really feel 70s so much when I look at it though. I feel more Alice in Wonderland, but thats just me.
Mandy: Okay, hold on. Weren't headbands and flower child tomfoolery from the 60s? As I recall, that's when they got their start, and it kind of bled into the 70s.
Either way, it's a really creative shot, and I love what you have going on with the bubbles. It's high-energy, but still kind of serene. Your accessories are magnificent, and the outfit really ties into the theme well. The pose is a bit unrealistic, but, meh, so is just about everything in modelling. All in all, fantastic job.
Eh. This is OK. It looks like something I would find in a cheap clothes advertisement though. I'm not really crazy about your hair. It's a little awkward how it sticks up in little pieces. I know you were going for the windswept hair look but it just wasn't executed well. It fits the theme of 90s, but its not enough at this point in the competition. You need to step your game up if you manage to stay this week.
Yeah, you could pat the hair down and it would fit a lot better with the outfit. It does fit the 90s but it doesn't stand out to me. I also am not a fan of the way you are looking at us. It doesn't fit the "model" bill to have a blank expression that conveys no emotion. That is why this doesn't do anything for me. It's okay, but it feels more like an ad you walk by at the subway station and don't remember at all by the time you get off the train.
Sonam: You look very innocent and young here. I think the styling is there but it wasn't enough for me, Ziyi. I can see the potential of this photo but everything seem so average and too safe for me
Tom: I like this one a lot. Reminds me of British people.
Mandy: I agree that the quality of the picture is a bit off, which is unfortunate, because it's still a pretty good shot. I absolutely love your facial expression, and your eyes are particularly entrancing. It's definitely got a great 90s feel to it, and I love your accessories. I also don't particularly mind the hair, but I'm a bit sketched by the hands. So, overall, I quite like the picture, but I do wish it was higher quality, and similar to what I've said for a few other models, I don't really feel like it's extraordinary.
